The heavy duty industrial use engine comes with a cast iron cylinder block and no HT (high tension) wires, distributor caps or rotors. Super quick glow plugs allow the engine to start quickly and reliably under cold conditions, the cold start device delivering a cleaner exhaust by advancing the fuel injection timing based on water temperature. Whilst emissions have been reduced by controlling fuel injection timing according to engine load.
New performance optimisation developments are included such as cooling on demand, load sensing hydraulics (power on demand), RPM management and alternate engine idle speed to help further reduce the total fuel consumption in most applications. ECO-eLo performance mode reduces energy consumption by up to 15% compared with previous generation engines and without compromising productivity
The durable powertrain is computer controlled, protected and managed by the Pacesetter VSM™ the industrial on-board computer featuring a CANbus communications network. This system permits adjustment of the truck’s performance, in addition to monitoring key functions, enabling quick, easy diagnostics, minimising repair downtime and unnecessary parts swapping.
The electronically controlled DuraMatch™ transmission provides smoother directional changes to eliminate shock loading and extend the life of the clutch packs. These transmissions offer unique and patented features, managed by the VSM, such as the Auto Deceleration System, which contributes to extending brake and tyre life and so reduces the frequency of required changes and ultimately your overall operating costs If the Autospeed Hydraulics option is selected when lifting a load, the engine speed is automatically increased to provide full hydraulic power. The Pacesetter VSM maintains the current travel speed (or prevents travel) until the operator steps on the accelerator.

The innovative cab design offers easy access, excellent all-round visibility and conveniently located controls. To optimise operator comfort, the full-suspension seat, together with the isolated powertrain delivers a whole body vibration of just 0.6m/s2. The Infinitely adjustable tilt steering column allows operators to easily obtain a comfortable driving position. Seat side E-hydraulics also add to operator comfort, with TouchPointTM Mini-levers or cowlmounted mechanical hydraulic levers available to reduce operator fatigue on long shifts.
The CAN bus system enables reliable operation of the truck, providing reduced wiring complexity and keeps them away from heat sources. Non contact Hall-Effect sensors and switches are environmentally sealed to IP66 standards to keep out water and debris (allowing the truck to be pressure washable) and are designed to outlast the life of the truck.
The Hyster Fortens™ is equipped with hassle-free hydraulic systems, featuring Leak-free Oring face seal fittings which reduce leaks for enhanced reliability of the truck and reduced wiring complexity.
A superior filtration system increases life span of all hydraulic components such as hoses and pumps and the aluminium core radiators and a superior counterweight tunnel design coupled with a “pusher” type fan provide the industry’s best cooling, ensuring that the truck operates at lower temperatures, which results in increased component life and limits the risk of overheating, particularly in heavy duty applications. In addition, the long term durability of the truck is enhanced by the available powertrain protection systems.
